Keen at level 26

I’ve been really pushing my Aion play-time the past few days.  There hasn’t been a lot of time for me to really dig my heels in and enjoy the game in long bursts because of busy school schedules and RL friends.  Luckily both of those things have subsided and my time in Aion is growing [...]

I have an evening to myself. The daughters asleep since 7pm, wife is out since 8pm. The bloody qualifying for the Brazilian grand prix over runs by 1.5hrs, because of a little bit of dampness. I log onto Karak Norn at  9.05 pm. I spend 5 mins sorting out the interface for my new bright wizard Laminar [...]

Film Watch – Zombieland

It’s okay, but that’s a 5 – 6 okay. It does spike up to an 8 on occasions, since there are some genuine laugh out loud moments (LOL, my version), but those are normally associated with the zombie kills.

Maybe it’s the lead in this film that grates slightly, Jesse Eisenberg . He’s got that perpetually wounded [...]

Now in the Dawntide Beta

I’m in the Dawntide Beta (Phase 2, I think?) now.   As you know there is no NDA.
I downloaded the client which was about 370mb’s compressed and 1.21 GB installed.  I logged in and played for about 20 minutes quickly to just get a feel for where the game is at.  In my opinion, having tested [...]

They’re not MMORPG’s anymore!

This post wraps up what I have been getting at with my past few entries.   It’s more of a comment than anything thought provoking and should help you understand my train of thought in the present/future.
Few of these games releasing today are MMORPG’s.  They are MMO’s.  None of us have truly been sure about how [...]

Hot Fixes – 10/16/2009

  • Friday Jul 3,2015 02:29 AM
  • By Andy Belford
  • In Uncategorized

Greetings!

We’ve been hard at work pounding out any abnormalities we’ve found since 1.3.2 went live. Here’s today’s round of Hot Fix Notes!

General Changes & Bug Fixes

  • A small number of crash-related issues were identified very soon after the 1.3.2 update went live. These issues have been resolved.
  • As part of the New User Journey updates to Tier 1 of the Empire vs. Chaos pairing, we have adjusted the locations of Flight Masters to better accommodate the new quest and content flow. Players will now find their first Flight Masters in Nordland, at the warcamps for Order and Destruction respectively.  These are the camps which are near the border of Norsca and Nordland.

Content

Quests

  • Unmasking the Enemy: Players who previously experienced issues with the carrier pigeon Zephyr, or the Dark Elf Cathalas Venomleaf, will now be able to complete those steps of the quest.

Land of the Dead

Tomb of the Vulture Lord

Heirophant Eu’trata

  • The Brothers of the King, Cousins of the King, and Uncles of the King have had their damage and health adjusted to be in-line with the intended difficulty, and Hierophant Eu’trata will now summon them in the correct order.

Tome Unlocks

  • Corrected an issue that was causing the wrong Tome Entries to unlock when players killed monsters in the Tomb of the Vulture Lord.

Realm vs. Realm

Campaign / Open RvR

  • The loot chest location for the Stoneclaw Castle Keep in High Pass has been adjusted.

Scenarios

  • Scenarios will now grant Influence along with Renown and Medallions, upon capturing a pairing.
  • Players will now be healed to full health but disabled and immobilized at the end of a Scenario to prevent ‘scoreboard kills’.
  • Battle for Praag: Defensive siege weapons have been added to the spawn areas in this Scenario.
  • Battle for Praag: Gameplay enhancement: When all of the objectives have been captured, the losing Realm may now capture the central objective (Central Praag) to reset ownership of all objectives.
  • Black Fire Basin: Carrying the Blackfire banner to the spawn area will cause it to be stripped from the carrier and reset back to the center of the lake.
  • Howling Gorge: Defensive siege weapons have been added to the spawn areas in this Scenario.
  • Gromril Crossing: When all of the objectives have been captured, the losing Realm may now capture the central objective (The Bridge) to reset ownership of all objectives.
  • Highpass Cemetery: Capturing both objectives will now start a fifteen second countdown before both are locked down to score.
  • Serpent’s Passage: Picking up the Salvage Part will now earn 25 points. Player kills have been increased to 5 points per kill.
  • Serpent’s Passage: Defensive siege weapons have been moved off of the ships and onto the ground.
  • Talabec Dam: Planting the bomb is now worth 100 points.

Capital Cities

  • Contested City Scenarios: More messaging and sounds have been added to the city Scenarios

WAR 1.3.2 to bring massive performance improvements?

Werit has some video and commentary up on his testing results on the 1.3.2 PTS server, and it looks very, very promising indeed. This may be the swinger, because as much as I’ve enjoyed Aion’s look and feel, some of the quirks and particularly the PVE grinding aspect and tiny, crowded, linear zones do not appeal. [...]
